BUEI Talks & National Museum of Bermuda present: The Final Frontier: Space-Age Technology, Deep-Sea Exploration and Shipwrecks with Dr. James P. Delgado

Since the 1985 discovery of Titanic, the art and science of deep-sea research has opened the planet’s final frontier – the ocean – to new discoveries and also to a new method of conducting science and involving the public. Using the concept of “telepresence,” scientists have worked around the world, discovering marine life in all depths, undersea geology, and a wide array of shipwrecks from throughout history. Dr. Delgado will share tales of the technology, the science, and of missions he has led or participated in from Titanic, World War II wrecks in the Pacific, and the telepresence enabled deep sea archaeological excavation of an early 19th century shipwreck in the Gulf of Mexico.
