Charles Knights is known to many of Bermuda’s primary school students as ‘Mr Nice’, the Menuhin Foundation violin teacher.
When Charles seized the opportunity to move to Bermuda and join the Menuhin Foundation, he had no idea how hooked he would become on watercolour painting. He had joined Bermuda’s Plein Air group by his first weekend on the island and keeps the awful painting he produced that day as a reminder. Charles owes his training to the many legendary Bermudian painters who have encouraged and helped him, in particular Chris Marson.
In recent years his paintings have gone to public and private collections in Bermuda, Hong Kong, UK, and US. He has attended courses at the St Ives School of Painting, Ruskin School of Art, Oxford, and with Alvaro Castagnet in San Fransisco. His recent discovery of Andrew Wyeth’s paintings has taken him on expeditions to Chadds Ford and the Maine coastline.
